Comparison
PTO Homeroom vs Konstella
Loved for parent communication. You can't compare the price, because they don't publish one.
The short answer
Konstella is genuinely good at the thing it is for — getting a message to the right classroom — but a board cannot compare a price that isn't published anywhere.
All figures below are the vendors' own published rates, checked on 25 August 2026. Pricing changes — verify with each vendor before deciding.
Pricing, side by side
| PTO Homeroom | Konstella | |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | $0 | Not published |
| Fee on payments | 3% | Not published |
| Fee on fundraisers | 3% | Not published |
| Card processing | Stripe 2.9% + 30¢ | Not published |
| Fees passable to the payer | Yes — shown at checkout and covered by the payer by default | Not published |
| Processor lock-in | No — funds settle to your PTO's own Stripe account | Not published |
Konstella tiers: Konstella's site has no pricing page. Schools are asked to request information. Third-party write-ups quote figures that disagree with each other, so none are repeated here.
What a $22,000 year actually nets
Assumes an average payment of $36.67 and that 55% of the total comes from your big fundraiser — the part vendors price differently. Both columns assume the group absorbs its own fees.
PTO Homeroom
$20,522
No subscription. Shown absorbing our 3% and card processing, to match the column beside it — pass them to the payer instead and you bank the full $22,000.
Konstella
Can't be calculated
Konstella doesn't publish its pricing, so there is no honest number to put here. We won't estimate one.
What to watch for with Konstella
No published pricing
There is no pricing page on konstella.com, and the homepage asks schools to request information. Third-party articles quote several different numbers. We won't repeat a figure we can't source from the vendor.
Communication-led, not treasury-led
Konstella advertises announcements, events, sign-ups, a directory, classrooms and sales & donations. Budget-vs-actual, a reimbursement queue and an audit packet are not part of the pitch — most schools using it still keep books somewhere else.
Built around the app
The experience centers on parents joining the platform. Homeroom's whole design assumes they never will — every link works without an account.
Fundraising is a feature, not an engine
Sales and donations exist. A-thon student pages, per-lap pledges, prize ladders and class rollups are a different category of tool.
Where Konstella is the better choice
We'd rather you pick the right tool than the one that wrote the comparison.
Classroom and room-parent communication
This is what Konstella is for and it does it well. Room parents who use it tend to like it a lot.
A mature, well-liked mobile app
Years of polish on the parent app. Ours is a web app — excellent on a phone, but not in an app store.
Private messaging between parents
Homeroom deliberately doesn't do this; open parent-to-parent chat is a moderation burden we chose not to take on. If your community wants it, that's a real gap on our side.
Established in a lot of schools
Network effects matter — if the parents at your school already have it, adoption is not your problem.

Choose PTO Homeroom if…
You want one tool instead of three, no annual subscription, a published fee you can explain to any parent, and your fundraiser, roster, communication and books in the same place.
