Families, no logins
- Magic links everywhere
- Every email carries a signed link that opens the right page for that family. No account, no password, no app to install before they can RSVP, sign up or pay.
- Public page for the PTO
- A public bulletin, calendar and announcement page at your own address. Parents, grandparents and new families read it without signing in; every link in your emails points at it.
- Install it like an app
- Homeroom is an installable web app: parents add it to their home screen and it opens full-screen, on iPhone and Android, with no app store in between.
- Family home
- Each family sees their own page: their students' rooms, this week's events, open signups, what they've paid and their membership card.
- Membership card and door check-in
- A card on the family's phone; a volunteer at the door checks families in from theirs.
- Opt-in family directory
- Grouped by home room, opt-in per family, searchable. Prints as a clean two-column booklet (save as PDF from any phone or laptop) and downloads for Excel.
- Welcome page for new families
- A front door for the families who arrive mid-year, with the join form and the parts of the year that matter to them.
Roster
- Import from anywhere
- Bring a roster over as CSV from a spreadsheet or another platform; columns are mapped for you.
- Students, families and rooms
- Every student is placed in a grade, home room and teacher; families link to their students; teachers can join and see their own class.
- People and roles
- Board roles, committee leads and room parents with rights scoped to what they run. Roles are data, editable per school.
- School year and rollover
- The school year is set by the school, and the year rolls forward with grades promoted and graduates archived.
- Exports
- The roster and every form's responses export as CSV.
Communication
- Announcements with targeting
- Send to the whole school, a grade, a home room, or a committee. Attachments included.
- Preview as a parent
- See exactly what a family will get, on a phone, before it goes.
- Calendar
- The year as a clean list, with events, meetings and signups on it and on the public page.
- Meetings
- Board and general meetings with agendas, RSVPs and a Google Meet link created for you.
- Teacher wish lists
- Teachers list what their classroom needs; parents claim items; nothing is bought twice.
Volunteers and signups
- Signup sheets with slots
- Publish a sheet with slots and counts; parents claim from a link with no account.
- Waitlists
- Full slots take a waitlist and promote automatically when someone drops.
- Forms
- Permission slips, surveys, orders and registrations answered in place, with responses exported as CSV.
Money
- Dues, tickets, store and donations
- One checkout for everything a PTO collects. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Your own Stripe account
- Funds settle to a Stripe account the PTO owns. Homeroom never holds your money.
- The 3%, shown to the payer
- A published 3% line at checkout, covered by the payer by default, so the PTO receives the full amount. Boards can absorb it instead.
- Refunds
- Full or partial, from the treasurer's screen, posted to the books automatically.
Fundraising campaigns
- Fun runs, walk-a-thons, read-a-thons, giving days
- Each student gets a shareable page; pledges from family and friends anywhere by card.
- Goals and leaderboards
- Thermometers at student, classroom, grade and school level; leaderboards by room.
- Donor memory
- A grandparent who gave last year is one tap from giving again.
Treasury
- Books that post themselves
- Every payment, refund and reimbursement lands in the ledger with no re-typing.
- Budget vs. actual
- The board's budget next to what actually came in and went out, live.
- Reimbursements with receipts
- Room parents snap a receipt on their phone; the treasurer approves; the ledger updates.
- Audit packet
- The year's books, receipts and approvals exported as one packet for the audit committee or the new treasurer.
Board
- Ideas board
- Boards and parents post what they want next and vote; the roadmap is public.
- Audit log
- Every money action and permission change is recorded and readable by the board.
- Sponsors, where parents actually look
- The businesses that fund the year get their logo and a link on the page every family opens all year, and on the public bulletin, not in a printed directory that lives in a drawer. The board sees how many families have seen them and how many clicked through, per sponsor, and has a public sponsors page to send a prospective sponsor: this is where your logo goes, and this is who sees it.
- Handoff
- Officers change, the data doesn't: the roster, books and history stay with the school and pass to the next board.
Not built yet
Said plainly so a board can decide with the facts. Each of these is on the public ideas board, where votes set the order.
- Text messaging
- Email today. SMS once carrier registration (10DLC) is complete.
- Automatic translation
- Announcements go out in the language they are written in.
- Spirit wear store with inventory
- The store sells items and options; per-size stock and fulfillment tracking are not built yet.
- Silent auctions
- Not built. PTBoard and Givebacks ship these today.
- Native app store apps
- Homeroom installs from the browser; there is no App Store or Google Play listing.
- Volunteer reminders and hour totals
- Signups and waitlists work; automatic reminders and per-volunteer hour reports are next.
- Background-check status tracking
- Planned, and never the report itself, only the status.
