Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms cover use of PTO Homeroom by parent groups and their members.

The service

  • PTO Homeroom provides software for running a parent group: roster, communication, volunteer sign-ups, fundraising, payments and bookkeeping.
  • The platform itself is free. A published platform fee of 3% is added at checkout and paid by the purchaser; it is not deducted from the organization's funds. Card processing is charged separately by the payment processor and is likewise paid by the purchaser, so the organization receives the full sticker price.

Accounts and eligibility

  • Accounts are for adults — parents, guardians, teachers and board members. Do not create an account for a child.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your sign-in email secure.
  • An organization's owners decide who has administrative access and what each role can do.

Your organization's data

  • Your parent group owns its data. We hold it on their behalf and will provide an export on request.
  • You are responsible for having the right to enter the information you enter, including information about other families.
  • Do not use Homeroom to store information it was not built for — medical records, government identifiers, or anything similar.

Money

  • Funds raised belong to the parent group, not to us. Payments settle to the organization's own connected payment account.
  • The organization is responsible for its own tax status, charitable registrations and financial reporting. Homeroom produces records; it does not provide accounting, tax or legal advice.
  • Refunds are issued by the organization, through the platform.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use Homeroom to harass anyone, to send messages unrelated to the organization's purpose, or to break the law.
  • Do not attempt to access another organization's data or to probe the service's security without written permission.

Availability and liability

  • We work to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
  • The service is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before a claim.

Ending an account

  • An organization may stop using Homeroom at any time and take its data with it.
  • We may suspend an account that is being used in breach of these terms, and will explain why where we can.

Changes

  • We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced to organization owners before they take effect.

Questions

Contact your parent group's board first — they control their own community's information. For anything about the platform itself, reach us at [email protected].
