Fundraising
Fun run fundraiser software without the 5–10% coach fee
The a-thon is the biggest check most PTOs write to a vendor all year, and the fee is usually described as "free" — until the payout statement arrives.
The short answer
Homeroom's fundraiser module launches a page for every rostered student on day one (no parent registration needed), takes flat gifts and per-lap or per-minute pledges, charges pledges automatically after event day from the lap counts teachers enter by class, and posts every dollar to the treasurer's books as it arrives. The fee is 3%, shown to the donor at checkout.
Seven kinds, or your own
Fun run, color run, walk-a-thon, read-a-thon, giving day, class challenge — or start from scratch. Goals and prizes at whichever levels you use: student, classroom, grade, school.
Class teams with names
Each teacher gets a link to name their class team ("The Rocket Sharks") and a teachers-only announcement channel to run it. Leaderboards update live.
Donor flow that doesn't leak
No account, no minimum, no address form — wallet-first checkout. Grandparents finish in two taps. Donor names show on the wall; the treasurer sees the full record.
The honest comparison
Boosterthon's model keeps roughly half the gross in exchange for an in-person coach. Get Movin' publishes ~4% to the school while pre-checking a 15% donor surcharge. Both are on our comparison pages with sources — including where they are the better fit.
Questions boards ask
Do we still need a coach?
The six-week playbook — kickoff, reminders, event day, thank-yous — ships as scheduled templates in the product. Most PTOs run it with one volunteer chair.
What about t-shirts and prizes?
Shirt sizes are captured at signup; a size report and a per-student prize-ladder export are one click.
